Exploring the Mountains On Two Wheels

In the Alps, MTB is one of the most popular sports, and when you consider its potential and accessibility to all abilities it is easy to see why. Morzine and the Portes Soleil area offer a huge range of very varied trails, all accessed by 24 excellent lifts. Known as a world-class summer destination in the Alps, MTB has made Morzine what it is today. With trails to suit all abilities and all kinds of off-road riding, including tough cross-country and exhilarating downhill tracks, there will be something to suit everyone.

Cross-country trails extend over one hundred kilometers in this area and have the added benefit of taking you through some of the most stunning Alpine scenery. Mixing up climbs, descents and undulating flats, taking you into Switzerland, traversing ridges and riding mountain passes, these routes give you the chance to enjoy every part of this exhilarating area.

Home to the 2011 World Championship track in Champery, the steepest track on the circuit, it is easy to see why the Portes Soleil area attracts avid riders in their droves. Tracks are graded, however, so even if you are a complete beginner there will plenty of opportunity for you to practice, build confidence and challenge yourself as the week progresses. There is a bike track in Chatel with a new lift accessing the top, so for real adrenaline junkies there is much fun to be had. Tracks are protected where possible with padding and safety is of paramount importance.

There are many accommodation options in the Alps. MTB is a very social sport so why not book a chalet and spend your week with other bike loving people? If you choose, you can have the luxury of ending your day in the comfort of a chalet, being taken care of by chalet staff, enjoying wonderful food and great conversation with the other riders; the icing on the cake for the perfect mountain biking holiday.
